Working Holiday

Studying, working and living in Germany or Austria

Go live and work in the heart of Europe! Thanks to its location in the centre of the continent and the incredible number of low-cost airlines that connect Austria to the four corners of Europe (for the price of an intercity bus in North America), there is no destination beyond your reach! So not only do you have the opportunity to live and work in a beautiful country like Austria, but you can travel just about anywhere! A salary in euros will allow you to travel anywhere, easily and without problems.

If you have always wanted to improve your German, live in a city rich in culture and history, eat delicious pastries (and we are not exaggerating at all), conquer the Alps or work in a country where they still hold balls in palaces like in the 19th century, Austria will be the experience of a lifetime! With our SWITCH programme, we will take care of the paperwork and we will take care of you, every step of the way! Whether it's helping you find a job or accommodation, getting a phone or opening a bank account, SWITCH will be there for you throughout your stay. So dance your way to Austria; it's the place to literally make your dreams come true (at least according to the Viennese psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud).

Your VISA
Your visa will be valid for 12 months and allows multiple entries into the country.

Local support in Austria
Be truly supported by our local staff throughout your working holiday. The staff are working holiday specialists who know Austria inside out. They will be there to help you settle in, find a job and accommodation, answer any questions you may have or just talk to you. You will also have :

  • An orientation session when you arrive in Vienna. You will be given advice on how to find a job or accommodation, information on administrative procedures and much more!
  • The Vienna Welcome Centre is equipped with telephones, a fax machine, Wi-Fi and a computer, which are at your disposal
  • Support services from the Sydney Welcome Centre throughout your stay
  • An after-hours emergency telephone line
  • Mail reception services
  • Excellent tips on how to travel without spending too much money.

Accommodation
On arrival: two nights' accommodation in Vienna (if you choose the accommodation option).

SWITCH support and resources

We've been helping people who want to live and work in Austria since 2017 and we know exactly what it takes to prepare an Austrian visa application. That's partly why hundreds of people choose SWITCH to ensure their application is successful. Our visa specialists will thoroughly review your application to ensure that it is perfect. If we notice anything, we will work with you to correct the problem before the application is sent to the Austrian government.
Our more than 6 years of experience with the Austrian working holiday visa is just one of the reasons why you should apply for the SWAP Austria programme:

  • We will represent you throughout the application process to ensure your working holiday visa application is approved
  • You will receive a SWITCH Departure Kit containing important information about your visa and everything you need to prepare for your departure, as well as information about finding a job and accommodation
  • A tourist map and materials

Eligibility
For the SWITCH Austria programme you must be fluent in German. In order for our partners in Austria to be able to help you, you must feel comfortable interviewing entirely in German. If you do not have this level of language skills, we do not recommend you to apply for this programme.
You must register for the SWICTH Austria programme at least 1 year before your departure date. The Austrian Embassy requires all visa applicants to appear in PERSON at its office for a biometric test. Appointment availability at the embassy is limited and waiting times can be long. Before you apply, make sure you can travel to the nearest Austrian embassy for your biometric test. We can help you arrange an appointment. We suggest that you do not book your flights until the appointment has been made.
